AS/RS maximize storage space while at the same time reducing operating costs.
The technology has developed continuously since it was first introduced 20+ years ago, providing the flexibility to design warehousing systems to meet each client’s individual needs.
An AS/RS can be installed in existing facilities or designed into a new facility. Most systems can go up to 130’ high as rack supported buildings, and some can be installed in buildings as low as 30’ high.
Basically, whatever your building and product throughput requirements, an AS/RS can be built to your needs. The ability to go higher and more compact translates into more storage in a much smaller space.
Typically 40% more pallets can be stored with an AS/RS than a conventional rack warehouse, in the same space. And for a new warehouse, this means a considerably smaller and ultimately less expensive building to construct and maintain.
For demonstration purposes, pallet loads will be used, but keep in mind the same technology exists for moving totes, cases, paper rolls, bakery trays, and even large car sized platforms.
