Earning Certification in SMC³’s Online Education Program, Less-than-Truckload LTL (CLTL)
SMC3 and Women In Trucking announced that the nonprofit’s president and CEO, Ellen Voie, has earned her certification in LTL (CLTL), as part of SMC³’s Online Education program.
This unique online learning program and opportunity to earn certification provide the skills and competencies demanded to thrive in the 21st-century LTL industry.
“Despite already having a strong background in trucking and logistics, this program provided even greater insight into shipping and packaging best practices for the LTL industry,” said Voie.
“I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to further their career in the trucking and logistics industry”
Voie is an internationally recognized speaker and authority on gender diversity and inclusion for women working in non-traditional careers in transportation.
She founded the Women In Trucking Association 16 years ago to promote the employment of women in the trucking industry, remove obstacles to success, and celebrate the successes of its members.
Having experienced the value of SMC3’s LTL online education and certification program firsthand, Voie is offering her association members a discount if they want to pursue a similar path with SMC3.
Brian Thompson, chief commercial officer at SMC3 stated:
“The LTL mode of transportation is incredibly complex and growth in recent years has created thousands of new opportunities within the industry. Our LTL online education program is helping to train the next generation of LTL leaders”

Three Women’s Contributions to Supply Chain & Transportation
In honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, we’re shining a spotlight on three women whose contributions to supply chain and transportation should be recognized, honored, and remembered.
International Women’s Day: Bringing Women Back to the Information Technology Sector
International Women's Day commemorates the movement for women's rights throughout the world, and while there are numerous topics of conversation to discuss, we wanted to acknowledge why women are opting out of the technology sector and why it's so important to bring them back.
How to Attract and Engage Female Truck Drivers
There are carriers that are becoming more aggressive in their efforts to recruit female drivers because of the benefits women bring. Not just as drivers filling a need, but as well-qualified employees who bring a different perspective to the job.
SMC3 currently offers the industry’s only path to LTL certification (CLTL), which is essential to career growth, gaining a competitive advantage, and elevating expertise across the supply chain. In addition to once-a-week 60-minute live sessions, the hybrid courses also have on-demand learning competent for flexible, convenient learning.
