Walmart’s Latest Service: Ultra Late-Night Delivery

The new service is available at stores nationwide, allowing shoppers to now receive deliveries from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.

Craving a late-night snack ... or batteries ... or even dishwashing detergent?

Walmart's got you covered. The retail giant recently introduced “Ultra Late-Night Delivery,” allowing customers to place orders up until midnight. This expansion means Walmart shoppers can now receive deliveries 18 hours a day, from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.

This service is the latest in a series of recent programs by Walmart to accommodate the varying schedules of its customers. Earlier this year, the retail giant launched “Early Morning Delivery,” starting at 6:00 a.m., and last fall, it extended its Express Delivery service to handle orders placed as late as 9:30 p.m. for delivery by 10:00 p.m.

In a blog post last year, Walmart Executive Vice President Tom Ward explained the company's philosophy: “Whether the items are delivered late-night, really fast or the next day, the power is firmly in the hands of the customer. So, whether it’s cookies, an extra set of headphones, or a new coffee pot, the closest store to customers – at any time, in any place – remains the one in their pocket: the Walmart app.”

The company's new service ensures that almost everything available in a local Walmart store can be delivered to the customer's doorstep within hours. This includes everything from late-night snacks to pet supplies, making it an ideal solution for last-minute needs.

To access Ultra Late-Night Delivery, customers can use Walmart’s mobile app or website, select their items, and check out the available express delivery options in their area. While typical delivery fees are $10 for one-hour delivery and $5 for three-hour delivery, members of Walmart+ will enjoy this service without any additional delivery charge.

Walmart has not only adjusted its delivery times to include early morning and late evening but also refined its service to be more responsive to spontaneous customer needs. Whether it's an unexpected craving or an urgent necessity, Walmart’s delivery system is set to ensure that customers can get what they need when they need it, right up until midnight.

“Life doesn’t always happen on schedule, and Walmart understands that implicitly,” Ward said.
