The Association for Supply Chain Management launches new technology certificate

ASCM adds new education program focused on developing modern supply chain technology skills, the Supply Chain Technology Certificate.

Today, the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM), the global pacesetter of organizational transformation, talent development, and supply chain innovation, announced the launch of its new Supply Chain Technology Certificate. The certificate provides relevant and timely information for people in the supply chain industry who want to gain a fundamental understanding of emerging technologies, how they’re implemented for organizational improvement, and how they directly affect supply chain performance, ASCM explained.

The Supply Chain Technology Certificate is a premier continuing education certificate that enables both individuals and corporations to gain a competitive advantage by deepening their knowledge on topics including; blockchain, advanced analytics and automation, the internet of things, cybersecurity, demand planning technologies and 3D printing.

“The pandemic made it clear to supply chain leaders that theyneed visibility into not only their suppliers, but their suppliers’ suppliers to be resilient. Add in agility and flexibility to respond to consumer expectations – the capabilities and pressures on supply chains are greater than ever before,” said ASCM CEO Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE. “Technology is the conduit – this certificate provides supply chain professionals with the knowledge they need to keep up with all the demands of the modern supply chain.”

The program, which is geared toward early to mid-level professionals looking to add on to their professional development, features 20 hours of self-paced eLearning educational content, broken down into six courses and a final exam. Those who pass the exam will earn both a certificate and digital badge. In addition, participants may be eligible to earn up to 20 maintenance points toward their ASCM certification.

ASCM’s Supply Chain Technology Certificate is set apart from others as one of the only certificates that educates individuals with limited to no coding experience on how the latest technology directly affects supply chain performance. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of several topics, including how supply chain technology can:

  • Increase the speed and flexibility of production processes
  • Streamline and improve operational performance
  • Increase reliability
  • Minimize security threats
  • Ease the process of evaluating data
  • Provide meaningful insights into supplier lead times and customer demands
