Softeon offers WES capabilities

Supply chain software provider Softeon (Booth S2055) launched new warehouse execution system (WES) capabilities at ProMat.

Supply chain software provider Softeon (Booth S2055) launched new warehouse execution system (WES) capabilities at ProMat.

Softeon, which also offers warehouse management system (WMS) software as well as a distributed order management (DOM) solution, thus is able to combine advanced WES and WMS in one in integrated offering, Dan Gilmore, Softeon CMO, explained at a Monday booth visit.

WES is a relatively new software category that, according to Softeon, addresses operational issues relative to automation use, resource management and task optimization. While WES capabilities have been part of Softeon’s WMS for close to 10 years, this new solution packages up the capabilities and expands on them, said Gilmore.

Softeon’s WES capabilities include simulation tools to enable customers to performance test a WMS before go-live and to do “what-if” analysis to analyze gains from potential process or configuration changes before and after deployment. There are also tactical simulation tools to analyze resource requirements and potential throughput issues at the start of a day or shift; as well as automated order planning and release based on picking efficiencies and shipping times/customer service requirements, including full waveless picking.

“Combined with the sophisticated capabilities in Softeon’s WMS, this new WES functionality—available with the WMS or as a stand alone—provides a truly breakthrough solution,” said Gilmore.

Softeon also featured live demonstrations of its Order Fulfillment System or “OFS” at the show, a solution that integrates and optimizes a variety of picking technologies, including voice, pick to light, put walls and mobile robots.

ProMat 2019 is scheduled to be held April 8-11 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the materials handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete coverage of the show.
