DOT applies for $1 billion in FY 2020 BUILD grant funding

Coming on the heels of the White House last week issuing its proposed Fiscal Year 2020 budget, which had a sharp focus on transportation infrastructure, the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) this week sent out a call for infrastructure funding, albeit in a different way. DOT said it published a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) in order to apply for $1 billion in FY 2020 discretionary grant funding through the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Discretionary Grants program.

United States Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Elaine Chao announced that DOT has rolled out a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to apply for $900 million in discretionary grant funding through the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Discretionary Grants Program.
USDOT awards INFRA grants

Late last week, nearly thirty transportation grants were awarded by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) through its Nationally Significant Freight and Highway Projects program, which was established in the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act of 2015. The Nationally Significant Freight and Highway Projects program is now called the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) program, with the program’s chief objective to make needed investments is critical freight and highway needs.
