On a recent media conference call hosted by Itsaca, Ill.-based third-party logistics (3PL) services provider and global freight forwarder SEKO Logistics, the company’s Chief Commercial Officer Brian Bourke addressed various aspects of complexity that has challenged supply chain stakeholders across various modes.

The intersection of Peak Season prospects, managing inventories, and economic indicators were some of the key themes highlighted on a recent media call hosted by Itsaca, Ill.-based third-party logistics (3PL) services provider and global freight forwarder SEKO Logistics.

Itsaca, Ill.-based third-party logistics (3PL) services provider and global freight forwarder SEKO Logistics announced it has acquired Commerce, Calif.-based 3PL and fulfillment services provider Pixior LLC. Financial terms were not disclosed. Established in 2000, Pixior has seven West Coast locations along with a Connecticut location, too, with the company providing e-commerce fulfillment and retail services, geared towards high-end fashion brand shippers.

Securing capacity for airfreight, ocean, ground, and final mile parcel, as well as meeting labor needs, will be the keys to enable growth and the consumer experience in 2022. That was the word from James Gagne, president and CEO of Chicago-based 3PL and global freight forwarder SEKO Logistics, at the company’s Media Day Market Update earlier this week.

Addressing Peak Season from a port perspective, Brian Baskin, SEKO Logistics Managing Director, explained that, as a point of compassion, two-to-three months ago, there were around 30 vessels backlogged outside the Port of Los Angeles, with what remains to be seen is if the pendulum is coming back, as things get closer to Peak Season.

Taking steps to expand its United States facilities footprint, Chicago-based third-party logistics (3PL) services provider and global freight forwarder SEKO Logistics said this week it has opened two new East Coast-based regional distribution hubs in Baltimore and Charlotte.

Higher rates, tight capacity, and a lack of empty container availability are major factors the current state of the global ocean container market.

The development comes at a time when SEKO is moving forward on its next stage of expansion, focusing on additional acquisitions, technology platform investments, and continued growth in key global regions.
