Once again the driving force behind monthly POLA numbers was exports at 197,878 TEU, which is the single highest monthly total for exports, topping October’s 193,548 TEU. November POLA exports were up 15.01 percent annually.

October volumes at the Port of Long Beach were down were down for the fourth straight month, according to data released by the port this week.

Spurred by strong export growth, October volumes at the Port of Los Angeles were solid on a year-over-year basis on the heels of an uneven September the month before.

Total September volume at the Port of Los Angeles of 705,623 TEU was down -0.84 percent compared to September 2010.

August volumes for the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach were both down compared to the same timeframe in 2010.

Compared to a booming July 2010, monthly volumes are decent.

Compared to a year ago, volumes are down overall at both ports.

Despite the increasingly negative economic headwinds of late, May volumes at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach mostly showed some decent signs of growth.

As was the case in June, volumes at the Port of Los Angeles (POLA) and the Port of Long Beach (POLB) were strong on a year-over-year basis.

In a development that would be laughable if it were not so calculatingly devious, the Teamsters have forged a partnership with “progressives” comprising community activists and environmental groups to mandate that independent owner-operator truckers be banned from the ports.

Even though year-over-year comparisons were relatively easy, June volumes at the Ports of Los Angeles (POLA) and the Port of Long Beach (POLB) turned in strong performances.
