Seegrid unveils vision-guided walkie stacker

In a press conference on Tuesday, Jeff Christensen, director of product development at Seegrid (Booth 7317), showed off the new GWS35 automated, vision-guided walkie stacker.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Jeff Christensen, director of product development at Seegrid (Booth 7317), showed off the new GWS35 automated, vision-guided walkie stacker.

“In keeping with our ‘Automation for Everyone’ theme in 2014, we’ve added the GWS35 to help users take advantage of their vertical transportation,” he said. “This automatic guided vehicle (AGV) can place or pick loads elevated on a conveyor, an ergonomic lifting device or racking.”

Capable of lifting 3,500-pound loads to heights of 72 inches, the unit travels without wire, laser, tape or magnet. Its 360-degree vision system uses the existing infrastructure to map its own guidance path.

“The stacker can be added to an existing fleet of Seegrid AGVs, and can be operated in either manual or automatic modes, reducing labor requirements,” added Christensen.

To reinforce the “Automation for Everyone” message, the company is giving attendees the opportunity to win a free GWS35, fully installed. One lucky attendee will be awarded the new product at the conclusion of the show.

Modex 2014 is scheduled to be held March 17-20, 2014 in Atlanta’s Georgia World Conference Center. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete Modex 2014 coverage.
