The headlines over the past few months in the truckload sector have been nothing short of astounding: spring tonnage was down double-digits year over year; Class 8 truck sales dropped nearly 50% compared with 2019 levels; and U.S. trailer sales fell to an all-time low of 5,700 in April compared with nearly 15,000 a year earlier.
Of course, these stunning statistics are being caused by the ripple effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, as it’s certainly put a number of new roadblocks in the way of the $340 billion truckload sector.
However, the one certainty in this wildly unbalanced environment is that the 37 carriers taking home Quest for Quality gold in this category have and continue to deliver top-notch service in the face of adversity.
In fact, a few of the carriers in this year’s truckload category put up some of the highest weighted scores across the entire 2020 Quest for Quality survey. This year, Holland (51.91) and Transport America (51.70) led they way in their categories with the most impressive weighed scores.
