Millwood showcases unit load test lab and dynamic slip sheet storage solution

Millwood (Booth 3657) is highlighting its Unit Load Test & Design Lab. Headed by Ralph Rupert, the former director of the Center for Unit Load Design at Virginia Tech, the lab is equipped to conduct ISTA, ASTM and ISO compression, vibration and shock tests. This allows Millwood to simulate the handling of a load through the supply chain, analyze where and why a load fails and design a superior solution, he explained.
“Our unique combination of test equipment, materials handling technologies and design software allows us to put science behind transport packaging designs,” said Rupert.
A few aisles over in Booth 4256, Millwood is showcasing the patent-pending SafeFlo technology for the storage and controlled gravity flow of slip-sheet and other pallet-less load applications. Like the SafeFlo pallet handling solution, the slipsheet system uses air and gravity to control the movement of unit loads through a high density storage system. All SafeFlo products are OSHA compliant for confined space “Lock-Out, Tag-Out,” noted John Wylie, director of sales and applications for SafeFlo.
“We believe we are the only dynamic, deep-lane storage solution to handle slipsheets and to deliver the consistency to interface with automation—such as AS/RS cranes or AGS,” Wylie added.
