Kamps, Inc. acquires Minnesota-based Twin City Pallet, Inc.

Deal seen as strengthening the pallet company's North-Central presence.

Kamps, Inc., a leading pallet organization, has announced the strategic acquisition of Twin City Pallet, Inc., a pallet manufacturer and recycler based in Hastings, Minnesota.

Twin City is a full spectrum wood packaging and recycling organization, specializing in standard and custom wooden pallet services, Kamps noted. Twin City is Kamps’ second acquisition in the greater Minneapolis-Saint Paul area in past 12 months. Kamps explained that the acquisition bolsters its local presence and service capabilities in this market, and builds upon the company’s core mission of delivering customer-centric pallet services on a national scale.

Twin City is a family and woman-owned business, owned and operated by Jen and Brian Laumeyer. The organization was originally established in the mid-1970s in St. Paul, Minnesota by Brian’s father, Merle Laumeyer. Merle Laumeyer successfully operated Twin City for over 30 years, before the husband wife duo assumed ownership in 2007. In late 2022, Twin City moved its operations south-east of its original St. Paul location to an upgraded facility in Hastings. As an additional sustainable service to its customers, Twin City recycles 100% of all inbound materials. This includes wood, plastic, cardboard, and metal. The organization currently employs 56 individuals and owns and operates over 150 trailers. Due to its rich history of placing customers, employees, and the environment at the core of the organization’s mission, Twin City has established itself as a premier wood packaging and recycling organization in its market.

“We welcome Brian and Jen to the Kamps family,” said Kamps President, Mitchell Kamps. “Twin City’s emphasis on delivering top-notch service, and proven ability to meet customer expectations, is right in line with Kamps’ mission. The strategic location of their new facility will also enable us to extend additional capabilities and offering to our combined customer base in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul market.”

“Twin City has been in business for over 40 years. Because of this we wanted to ensure that the company we partnered with shared our values, and would keep our culture intact,” said Jennifer Laumeyer. “Partnering with Kamps has been a blessing because we know our two companies are closely aligned on these subjects. We have worked closely with Kamps via their partner network and know that our employees and clients will continue to be the highest priority. We are confident all of our stakeholders will benefit by being part of a larger, nationwide organization, that operates with integrity and carries the values of a local service provider.”

The acquisition of Twin City expands Kamps’ national presence to 62 asset-based locations, supported by over 8,000 trailers and over 4,000 employees. This is the third acquisition Kamps has completed in the last 60 days. The company’s two previous acquisitions consisted of full-service organizations operating in Florida, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
