Hoosier Company Expanding Pharmaceutical Distribution In Hendricks County

MD Logistics, a third-party logistics firm, announced plans today to expand its Indiana operations, creating us to 50 new jobs in 2017.

“To take our state’s economy to the next level, we need companies not just to locate in Indiana – but to stay and grow in our communities,” Governor Eric J. Holcomb said.

“MD Logistics is one of many Hoosier companies doing just that, and they play a vital role in making Indiana a magnet for jobs. We’ll do our part by sustaining our pro-business environment and by funding a long-term plan for roads and bridges that ensures the transportation network companies like MD Logistics count on is maintained and developed for the years to come.”

The homegrown Hoosier company will invest more than $3.7 million to renovate its current operations in Plainfield, creating additional pharmaceutical-grade storage capacity for global and domestic clients in the life sciences and medical device industries. The company is upgrading its 173,000-square-foot facility, which opened in 2015, to expand its frozen and refrigerated pharmaceutical storage capabilities. The renovation, which is expected to be complete next month, will allow MD Logistics to support increasing market demands, including a new contact with a large global pharmaceutical company.

MD Logistics, which currently employs nearly 200 full-time Indiana associates across its three-facility campus in Plainfield, is hiring for various positions, including warehouse associates, leads, supervisors, and managers. Interested applicants are encouraged to inquire about employment opportunities by sending an email to [email protected].

“Last year we celebrated our 20th anniversary, and a large part of our success has been a direct result of the attractive business the state of Indiana offers,” said Mark Sell, president, and co-founder of MD Logistics. “Companies want to conduct business in Indiana because of the talented and hardworking labor force available to us. As we expand our operations in response to market demands, we are very excited to continue to grow in central Indiana. We are grateful to Hendricks County and the state of Indiana for their support.”

Founded in 1996, MD Logistics is a third-party logistics provider, managing companies’ supply chains and products from the point of manufacturing down the line to wholesalers, hospitals, and doctors’ offices around the world. The company operates facilities in Plainfield and Reno, Nevada, covering a footprint of nearly 1 million square feet. As a global distributor of trade, sample, and clinical specialty products, in 2016 MD Logistics was recognized as one of the nation’s top 100 third-party logistics companies for the fifth consecutive year by Inbound Logistics magazine. The company was also honored in 2016 by Global Trade magazine as a leading third-party logistics provider for temperature-controlled warehousing.

As the Crossroads of America, Indiana’s logistics industry is expected to more than double by 2035, according to Conexus Indiana. In order to support Indiana’s quickly-growing logistics industry and companies like MD Logistics, Governor Holcomb has proposed creating a 20-year plan to fund Indiana’s roads and bridges, which would fully maintain the state’s existing infrastructure, complete major projects, and invest in new projects to enhance Indiana’s connectivity to the world.

“The town of Plainfield is pleased to help MD Logistics grow and prosper in Plainfield,” said Robin Brandgard, president of the Plainfield Town Council. “The fact that this is a homegrown business and has thrived in this community adds to Plainfield’s reputation for being one of the premier sites for industrial and distribution centers. We currently have more than 40 million square feet of space under roof or in the planning phases.”

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) offered MD Logistics Inc. and its sister company, MD Express Inc., up to $255,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. These incentives are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The town of Plainfield approved additional incentives at the request of the Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership.
