Conveyor index up 14% in March

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its March 2011 Booked Orders Index was 192. Index in March is up 23 points or 14% from February 2011’s Index of 169.


The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its March 2011 Booked Orders Index was 192. Index in March is up 23 points or 14% from February 2011’s Index of 169 (1990=100). The March 2011 Index represents an increase of 44% from the March 2010 Index of 133.

CEMA’s baseline calculation uses the year 1990 as a comparison. Numbers to the right of the equation show the current state of the conveyor industry as compared to 1990. Figures above 100 indicate growth; while anything less indicates a contraction in the industry.

March Booked Orders Indexes were 295 for Bulk Handling Equipment and 159 for Unit Handling Equipment (1990=100). Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly and are averaged back to the two preceding months, the booked and billed indexes for non-quarter ending months for Bulk Handling Equipment and Category X, total of all categories, are adjusted quarterly.

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 146 in March. Index in March represents an increase of 4% from February 2011’s Twelve-Month Index of 141.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 167 in March. Index in March represents an increase of 24% from February 2011’s Index of 135. The March 2011 Index represents an
increase of 46% from the March 2010 Index of 114.

March Billed Sales Indexes were 286 for Bulk Handling Equipment and 139 for Unit Handling Equipment (1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 139 in March. Index in March represents an increase of 4% from February 2011’s Twelve-Month Index of 134.


CEMA reports 18% increase in booked orders in February
Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association’s index shows an increase of 46% over February last year.
