Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association releases semi-annual statistics

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association, Inc. (CEMA), estimates that overall industry orders (bookings) for January through June 2023 increased 1.0% compared to the same period in 2022, with total orders of $9.4 billion, CEMA announced today. 

For industry billed sales (shipments) in January through June 2023, CEMA estimates they decreased 0.5% compared to the same period in 2022, with total shipments of $9.8 billion.

Additionally, CEMA estimates industry Unit Handling orders were up 5.0% in January through June 2023, while Unit Handling shipments decreased 9.1% compared to the same period in 2022.

 In the Bulk Conveying sector, CEMA estimates orders were down 3.0 % and shipments were up 14.6 % compared to the same period in 2022.

 CEMA tracks new orders and shipped sales volume in nine classes of Unit Handling equipment and four classes of Bulk Handling equipment. CEMA President Johnny Wheat announced the results at the Association’s 2023 Fall Meeting held September 19-20 at Hilton O’Hare in Chicago, Illinois.

The executives of CEMA member companies in attendance at the 2023 Fall Meeting expressed optimism for the year ahead, CEMA noted.  As a result, CEMA forecasts that industry shipments will be up 5.0% in 2023 over 2022 shipments.
