The two-aisle automated production warehouse system of Terex Cranes in Zweibrücken, Germany was facing increasing risk of failure: The software in the warehouse, which had been put into operation back in 1991, was complicated to use, the control concept was obsolete, and the drives were inefficient. Moreover, some of the spare parts were no longer available. viastore managed to restore the future viability of the warehouse from a third-party supplier within just two weeks.
Terex Cranes decided to modernize its production warehouse due to more and more frequent downtimes. “The risk of our entire plant grinding to a halt just because of one faulty component in the warehouse was just too high,” says Wolfgang Anton,
Project Manager Production Control and Supply Chain Management. In addition to the electrical system, drives and sensors, the entire control system and warehouse management software were to be replaced as part of this retrofit.
viastore was selected to carry out the modernization measure. Prior to awarding the contract, the Terex team had inspected various storage systems implemented by the Stuttgartbased company in order to convince themselves of viastore’s expertise.
