Earlier this week, the Supervisory Board of TNT Express, a Netherlands-based provider of mail and courier services and the fourth largest global parcel operator, announced that Marie-Christine Lombard, TNT Express CEO, resigned “to pursue an external career opportunity.”

UPS says Offer Period for deal is officially extended.

A recent Bloomberg report stated that European Union (EU) regulators have extended their review of UPS’s bid to acquire Netherlands-based TNT NV, a provider of mail and courier services and the fourth largest global parcel operator for $6.28 billion by ten working days until December 12.

Late last week UPS said that the European Commission’s review of the proposed acquisition is now expected to move to a “Phase II review,” because there are facets of the deal that require more time to analyze.

UPS and Netherlands-based TNT NV, a provider of mail and courier services and the fourth largest global parcel operator, said today that UPS’s $6.5 billion cash offer for TNT, which was announced in March, commences tomorrow and will run through August 31.

FedEx said this morning it is in discussions about a potential plan to acquire TATEX, a France-based B2B express transportation company focused on heavy shipments. This potential deal follows FedEx’ early April acquisition of Poland-based courier company Opek Sp.Z o.o.

CEO Fred Smith says FedEx has a profitable multi-billion dollar business in Europe and it is growing strongly.

In what can potentially be viewed as a significant game changer for the global logistics and express delivery sectors, UPS and Netherlands-based TNT NV, a provider of mail and courier services and the fourth largest global parcel operator, said today they have reached an agreement in which UPS will acquire TNT Express for roughly $6.77 billion ($5.16 billion euro). The agreement is an all-cash offer of $9.50 per ordinary share for TNT Express.
