September volumes at both the Port of Los Angeles (POLA) and the Port of Long Beach (POLB) were strong as the build up to the holiday season continues.

March volumes at the Port of Los Angeles (POLA) and the Port of Long Beach (POLB) both turned in very strong performances, according to data issued by the ports this week.

Total POLA February volume dropped 12.4 percent annually to 625,381 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEU), and POLB volumes decreased 11.2 annually percent to 498,311 TEU.

Total POLA January volume was up 17.4 percent annually at 826,640 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEU), marking the highest-volume January in its 110-year history, and POLB January volumes rose 8.7 percent annually to 582,689 TEU.

POLA and POLB see strong 2016 volumes over all
Despite mixed volumes and fluctuating data points 2016 ended up being a good, and in some cases, great, volume year for the both the Port of Los Angeles (POLA) and the Port of Long Beach (POLB). POLA and POLB are the two largest North American ports, and they collectively account for more than 40 percent of U.S. imports.

POLA and POLB November volumes are mixed
Total November POLA volume at 877,564 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) posted a new all-time monthly record for the port, topping October’s 814,574 TEU, with November up 23.6 percent on an annual basis. POLB November volumes fell 13.8 percent annually to 534,308 TEU, with port officials citing shifting alliance routes and the Hanjin bankruptcy still impacting volumes.

August volumes at the Port of Los Angeles (POLA) and Port of Long Beach (POLB) were mixed according to data recently issued by the ports.

June and year-to-date volumes for POLB and POLA are mixed
Total June POLA volume at 676,006 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) was off 6.3 percent annually, and POLB was up 3.4 percent in June at 603,339 TEU.

Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach September volumes mixed but trending in right direction
Total POLA September volumes were down 5.8 percent at 730,306 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) compared to September 2014, which was one of the strongest months in the port’s history, and POLB September volume was up 4.1 percent annually at 655,624 TEU.

Even with congestion issues, POLA and POLB volumes see gains in October
Total October POLB volumes were up 1.1 percent year-over-year at 583,009 TEU, and POLA volumes in October were up 4.6 percent compared to October 2013 at 715,682 TEU.

September POLA and POLB volumes impress with holiday shopping season coming soon
With the holidays rapidly approaching, it appears retailers are not quite done getting inventory set up and on the shelves in time for what is expected to be a fairly active shopping season. That much was evident based on recent data for September volumes issued by the Port of Los Angeles (POLA) and the Port of Long Beach (POLB).

Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles volumes show modest July gains after a hectic June
Volumes for the month of July at the Port of Long Beach (POLB) and the Port of Los Angeles (POLA) were mixed, according to data recently issued by the ports. Unlike May and June, which saw higher than usual seasonal volumes, due to the West Coast port labor situation, July was down as retailers had completed filling inventories for back-to-school shopping.

June volumes at Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach see strong gains
POLA reported that total volumes were up 13.89 percent annually at 736,438 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), which represents its highest TEU tally in a single month since September 2012, and POLB volumes were up 8 percent annually at 610,516 TEU, with June 2014 standing as the best June at the port since June 2007.
