Descartes announces acquisition of ShipTrack

Waterloo, Ontario-based Descartes, a provider of logistics based on-demand, software-as-a-service offerings, recently announced it acquired ShipTrack, a Plantagenet, Ontario-based provider of cloud-based mobile resource management and shipment tracking solutions that help shippers with automate dispatch, updates on shipment status and estimated time of arrival (ETA), and eliminate paper-based delivery processes.
Forward Air acquires CLW Delivery Inc., in move geared towards expanding final mile services

Greeneville, Tenn.-based asset-light freight and logistics services provider Forward Air Corporation announced it has acquired the assets of Johnson City, Tenn.-based CLW Delivery Inc., a privately held final mile provider specializing in last-mile logistics and in-home installation services for national retailers and manufacturers, for cash consideration of $5.5 million.

FedEx preps to have Express contract with Ground operations for select residential shipments

Driven by the rampant growth rate of e-commerce, coupled with the need to increase efficiency and lower residential delivery costs, Memphis-based freight transportation and logistics service provider FedEx announced late last week that in March, FedEx Express—its global, time-definite delivery service unit—will contract with FedEx Ground—its ground transportation package delivery services unit—for the transport and delivery of select day-definite, residential Express shipments.
