And that process it has established itself as a player in myriad markets through its growth by acquisition strategy. Yesterday, it took things on the acquisition front to a new level, announcing it plans to acquire Lyon, France-based 3PL Norbert Dentressangle SA for $3.53 billion.
Three large institutional investors make $700 commitment to XPO Logistics

Non asset-based 3PL XPO Logistics said this week that three global blue chip institutions––PSP Investments, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund called GIC, and the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan–– have invested a cumulative $700 million into XPO, which company officials said will be used to accelerate its growth strategy and allocated mainly for unspecified acquisitions.

Jacobs, an entrepreneur and founder and owner of Jacobs Private Equity LLC, and Express-1 Expedited Solutions, a non-asset-based third party logistics (3PL) transportation services provider, said they have entered into an agreement in which Jacobs and a group of co-investors will invest up to $150 million in cash in Express-1.
