Carload

The AAR reported that September carloads—at 1,159,784—were up 0.7 percent over September 2012, and intermodal containers and trailers were up 4.4 percent annually with 1,027,522 containers and trailers.

Carload volume—at 288,160—was down 1.5 percent compared to the same week a year ago, and intermodal was down 3.4 percent annually at 262,897 trailers and containers.

Carload volume—at 296,221—was up 1.5 percent annually, and intermodal was up 4.9 percent annually at 296,221 trailers and containers.

Carload volume—at 278,594—was up 2.2 percent annually, and intermodal was up 6.7 percent annually at 228,899 trailers and containers.

Intermodal in August marked the single ever best monthly performance for the mode at 1,031,179 containers and trailers, according to AAR data. This was up 4.4 percent—or 43,398 units—compared to August 2012.

Carload volume—at 247,896—was up 2 percent annually, and intermodal—at 205,597 trailers and containers—was up 1.1 percent.

Carload volume—at 281,727—was down 3.3 percent annually, and intermodal—at 248,210 trailers and containers—was up 1.4 percent compared to last year.

Carload volume—at 280,986—was up 0.6 percent annually, and intermodal—at 248,266 trailers and containers—was up 3.9 percent.

April carloads—at 1,108,722—were down 4,640 carloads or 0.4 percent annually. Intermodal—at 962,019 trailers and containers—was up 15,053 units or 1.6 percent compared to April 2012.

Carload volume—at 276,662—was down 2 percent annually, and intermodal—at 240,698 trailers and containers—was up 0.6 percent.

March carloads—at 1,117,427—were down 5,969 carloads or 0.5 percent annually. Intermodal—at 933,028 trailers and containers—was up 4,859 units or 0.5 percent compared to March 2012.

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported this week that United States carload and intermodal volumes followed last week’s lead and were both up—rather than the months-long trend of mixed—for the week ending March 23.

Carload volume—at 280,624—were up 0.5 percent annually, and intermodal—at 228,806 containers and trailers—was up 0.7 percent.

Carload volume—at 265,839—was down 6.3 percent annually, and intermodal—at 238,789 trailers and containers—was up 1.6 percent.

2012 carload volume at 14,682,219 was down 3.1 percent compared to 2011’s 15,155,992, and intermodal volume at 12,267,336 trailers and containers was up 3.2 percent compared to 2011’s 11,892,431
