CN said that the Massena rail line is comprised of more than 220 miles of track between Valleyfield (Quebec) and Woodard (New York), adding that the line serves other cities in Quebec, including Beauharnois and Huntingdon, in addition to New York-based Massena, Norwood, Potsdam, and Gouverneur.

This new intermodal offering will be geared towards CN’s greater Montreal and Southern Ontario areas, and the CSX-served ports of Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey and the New York City metropolitan area, according to CN and CSX officials.

Montreal-based Class I railroad carrier CN recently announced it has completed its acquisition of the Winnipeg-based The TransX Group of Companies. This acquisition was originally announced in late October. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Montreal-based Class I railroad carrier CN said yesterday that its Board of Directors formally announced that CEO Luc Jobin has left the company, effective immediately, and replaced him with Jean-Jacques Ruest. Ruest, a 22-year CN veteran, will serve as interim president and CEO until a new, permanent replacement has been named, and he has served as executive vice president and chief marketing officer for the past eight years. CN said an international search for a new CEO is now underway.

With the news over the weekend that E. Hunter Harrison, president and chief executive officer of Class I railroad CSX passed away on Saturday December 16 at the age of 73, there was no shortage of praise for a man, whom was widely viewed as the most important railroader of our times.
