transport logistic 2013 – Broader International Scope and Rising Optimism Delight Attendees
With 2,013 exhibitors (2011: 1,893) from 63 countries on 110,000 square meters of exhibition space, transport logistic has expanded both in terms of number of exhibitors and total space.
The transport logistic 2013 edition of the world´s biggest trade show for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management, which closes today in Munich, attracted a record 53,000 (2011: 51,310) trade visitors. A further rise in international scope was also noticeable at this year´s show – around 45 percent of the exhibitors came from outside Germany, and almost 40 percent of the visitors.
The significance of this trade exhibition for the logistics industry was underlined by Germany´s Minister of Transport, Dr. Peter Ramsauer, during the opening ceremony: “This is a global gathering, because logistics is the flywheel of the economy, not just in Germany. This trade show has proven to be a real engine for growth.” His colleague from Luxembourg, Etienne Schneider, Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade, was also enthusiastic: “To raise Luxembourg´s profile as a platform for logistics in Europe and around the world, we decided to take part in the most important logistics trade fair the world has to offer. The international scope at this event is unique.”
The show recorded strong growth in visitor numbers from, for example, China, France, Russia and Turkey. After Germany, the top ten countries of origin for visitors were as follows (in this order): Austria, Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, France, Czech Republic, Poland, United Kingdom, Belgium and Spain.
The exhibitors were particularly impressed by the high quality of the visitors. Commenting on this, Christian Marnetté, Director of Sales and Marketing at Kühne + Nagel, said: “The 2013 edition of this transport exhibition in Munich has again delivered many new leads. And our highly valued existing customers also met up with us here in this excellent atmosphere. Once more the Munich exhibition center has done a superb job of bringing together trade visitors and exhibitors in a well organized show. In short: transport logistic is a real ‘must’ in terms of its coverage of both sides of the market.”
Harm Post, Chairman of Holland Ports, added: “Holland Ports has been taking part in transport logistic for many years. As one of the most important port areas in Europe, being a part of this event is a must for Holland Ports. This is the right place to meet our international logistics partners.”

The increase of 120 exhibitors is accounted for principally by a higher number of exhibitors from abroad. After Germany, the top ten countries of origin for the exhibitors are as follows (in this order): Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, France, Austria, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Spain and Russia.
Taking part this year for the first time was Turkish exhibitor Ekol. Its CEO, Tayfun Öktem, was highly satisfied with his company´s premiere at the show: “We are happy and proud to be exhibiting at this, the most important and influential trade show in the sector, transport logistic in Germany. We had very many positive talks with our esteemed global customers and selected business people from Germany.”
This year, for the first time, transport logistic had a cooperation with Hannover trade fair in the form of the intralogistics hall, CeMAT at transportlogistic. Christoph Beumer, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Partner of the BEUMER Group, and also Chairman of the CeMAT Executive Committee, said: “We very much welcome the fact that CeMAT with its extensive intralogistics coverage has now become an important part of transport logistic. For us this is an excellent opportunity to inform the highly professional trade audience at this event about our sustainable and innovative solutions.”
The supporting program of transport logistic 2013, featuring also the trade conferences Air Cargo Europe and marilog, was well received. Interest was especially high in the international themes, e.g. the country specials on the up-and-coming markets of Russia and Asia, in the events focusing on sustainability and the discussions on IT and telematics. As such, the program was an accurate mirror of trends in the logistics industry.
The next transport logistic takes place from May 5 to 8, 2015.
