Saddle Creek announces plans to open up new Las Vegas-based DC

Lakeland, Fla.-based 3PL Saddle Creek Logistics Services recently announced it plans to open a new Las Vegas-based multi-client distribution center, which it said is scheduled to open in August 2022. Company officials said that this new facility will expand Saddle Creek’s western U.S.-based operations, in order to meet the news of both new and current clients.

They added that this marks Saddle Creek’s sixth location in the western U.S., while expanding its 3PL footprint to more than 30 million square-feet nationally. The Las Vegas facility is west of Interstate 15 and has 36-foot clear heights and 20 dock doors, with Saddle Creek noting this space can be built out to suit specific client needs.

“We’re seeing a high level of interest in a Las Vegas DC. The business-friendly tax climate, strong labor pool and proximity to many major markets make it an ideal location for warehousing and distribution operations,” said Rob Pericht, Saddle Creek senior vice president, customer solutions and operations development, in a statement. “It’s also advantageous for efficient and cost-effective transportation with easy access to most of the western U.S. within two days via ground service.”

A Saddle Creek spokesperson told LM that that company is always open to investing in new facilities to help meet the needs of its clients, adding that over the past couple years, it has been fielding a growing number of requests for additional warehousing and distribution options in the western U.S.

“With growing ecommerce demand and a challenging freight market, many retailers and brands are reconfiguring their distribution networks in order to reduce transit time and cost,” she said. “The Las Vegas market is well situated to support that strategy, so it makes sense to establish a presence there.”

What’s more, for clients in need of a West Coast distribution node, she said Saddle Creek currently operates facilities in the Los Angeles area, San Diego and Modesto, Calif. We also have several multi-client distribution centers in the Fort Worth, Texas, area.

When asked what the main benefits of the new Las Vegas facility will be, the spokesperson said it is location, with Las Vegas just a short drive from many major markets, making one- or two-day ground service a cost-effective shipping option. She added that the area also has a strong labor pool which is important for labor-intensive services like warehousing and fulfillment, also noting that Nevada’s business-friendly tax climate is a draw as well.

The new Las Vegas DC will provide a full range of logistics services, including omnichannel and ecommerce fulfillment, warehousing, and transportation, with value-added services, returns management and parcel shipping programs are also available.

“The new facility expands our footprint in the western U.S.,” she said. “The location is attractive to clients and prospects who are interested in moving products closer to their end customers to reduce transit time and cost.”
