ODFL opens up new service center in West Virginia

Less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation services provider Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL) said this week it has opened up a new service center in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

Company officials said this new 14-door service center will serve shippers in West Virginia and Ohio and allow ODFL to continue growing in this region. They added that this service center, which will have 12 employees, is part of ODFL’s $90-$120 million investment into 2012 real estate purchases and expansion projects.

The service center’s coverage area, according to ODFL, is comprised of seven cities in West Virginia: Parkersburg, Clarksburg, Sistersville, New Milton, Harrisville, West Union and Ravenswood; and three cities in eastern Ohio: Marietta, Watertown, and Athens.

“We have experienced steady growth in West Virginia and Ohio, and the new Parkersburg Service Center allows us to keep up with this growth to provide the best possible service to our customers,” said Mike Wood, Vice President of the Midwest region, in an interview. “The new service center allows Old Dominion to more quickly react to the needs of customers in the region. Located directly off of Interstate 77, this new service center will help us continue to provide outstanding service to our customers.”

Prior to rolling out this new service center, Wood said ODFL previously serviced Parkersburg and the surrounding communities from other regional service centers.
