Following its recent announcement signaling a major executive leadership change, in which effective July 1, 2023, Kevin M. (“Marty”) Freeman will succeed Greg C. Gantt as ODFL President and Chief Executive Officer, as per its Board of Directors, Thomasville, N.C.-based national less-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL) announced additional executive leadership changes this week.
The company said its Board of Directors elected Senior Vice President Gregory B. Plemmons to succeed Freeman and serve as ODFL Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. ODFL added that Vice President-Field Sales Steven W. Hartsell will succeed Plemmons and become ODFL Senior Vice President-Sales.
“We are excited to promote Greg and Steve and are proud of their commitment to provide our customers with superior service,” said Gantt in a statement. “Greg and Steve will continue to work with Marty and the rest of our leadership team to execute on our long-term strategic plan, and we look forward to their continued contributions.”
In its fourth quarter earnings announcement made today, ODFL reported a 5.8% revenue increase, to $1.49 billion, with LTL services revenue up 6.0%, to $1.47 billion. Its quarterly operating ratio came in at 71.2%, an improvement from 73.6%, for the fourth quarter of 2022. Quarterly net income headed up 16.2%, to $323 million.
