New ‘Core Carrier Program’ from Transfix focuses on strategic partnership for exceptional carriers

Earlier today, Transfix, a New York-based logistics technology services provider that streamlines shipment data to better help shippers make informed decisions to optimize time and revenues, rolled out a new offering geared towards “exceptional carriers” that have shown reliability and strong performance metrics in moving freight with the company.

Through this offering, entitled the Core Carrier Program, Transfix explained that its carriers are automatically evaluated for placement into the program and are based on their respective performances for moving freight with Transfix. The key metrics that decide which carriers receive an invitation to participate in the program include high load volume and acceptance rate and consistently strong OTP/OTD performance. And Transfix said that this program offers various benefits for carriers like increased freight volume, early access to consistent loads, a dedicated carrier account manager, and 24/7 support.

Transfix President and CEO Lily Shen said in an interview that there were various drivers for the rollout of the Core Carrier Program.

“We talk to thousands of carriers a month, and they tell us that they want reliability and consistency over a quick buck,” she said. “Core Carrier is designed to do just that: to help top carriers by forging strategic partnerships with those who demonstrate reliability and strong performance, providing more consistent freight and superior customer service around the clock.

What’s more, Shen explained that by setting a defined standard for excellence, Transfix is allowing carriers to operate within a meritocracy, in that carriers now have a distinct roadmap, starting with the very first load they move for the company.

“We’re also incentivized to help as many carriers as we can participate in this program so that we can connect them with the shippers we serve,” she said. “We’re confident that the establishment of clear lines of communication, data sharing and feedback loops will help grow the program rapidly in 2020.”

When asked what the biggest benefits of the new Core Carrier Program are for the shippers that are served by the program’s member carriers, she pointed to how improving the shipper-carrier relationship is at the core of the company’s mission.

“It’s why we exist,” she said. “For shippers, the impact of the Core Carrier Program means they get consistency through repeat carrier coverage and higher on-time performance. Shippers know that growth requires reliable partners, and that they can trust Transfix to handle whatever they throw at us. It means that by working with Transfix, shippers know they’ll receive better on-time delivery rates thanks to familiarity with processes and facilities. It’s all about fostering continuity and building a strong network.”

As for the competitive advantages the Core Carrier Program provides from a Transfix perspective, Shen cautioned it should not be viewed as a race to 100% freight automation.

“We always have human logisticians in the loop, who get to know our customers’ businesses and work to find mutually beneficial ways to help them grow,” she said. “A perfect example of this is in exception management. We’ve seen a significant increase in exceptions over the past two months. Our team is proactively working with carriers to manage exceptions on their behalf and still demonstrate excellent on-time performance. We are fully committed to helping carriers as much as we possibly can.”
