Hurricane Ian Carrier Update
As Hurricane Ian approaches, various parts of coastal Florida, safety is paramount for everyone, of course. That said, Logistics Management has provided an overview below of what is happening with various freight transportation carriers, providers and ports. The statements below are directly from company web sites to keep you informed in a brief and concise manner. Please be careful out there for the next few days.
The U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a notice, pertaining to multiple Florida-based ports, including: Port of Palm Beach, Port of Fort Pierce, Port of Miami, and Port Everglades, which is available here.
ABF: The company has closed down multiple Florida-based service centers, with a complete list available here.

FedEx: “Hurricane Ian is causing hazardous conditions across portions of Tampa, Florida Keys, and Fort Myers. Our thoughts are with those affected. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our team members, as well as providing you with the highest level of service. Delays and disruptions can be expected for inbound and outbound shipments across portions of impacted areas. We are committed to providing service to the best of our ability in areas that can be safely accessed. Continue to check this page for the latest service updates.”
UPS: “UPS services in Florida may be impacted by Hurricane Ian. While most UPS facilities are providing pickup and delivery services as conditions permit, some delays are possible. There will be no pickups or deliveries today in the following postal codes.” For more information, please click here.
Norfolk Southern: “Norfolk Southern is monitoring Hurricane Ian which is forecasted to strengthen as it moves north through the Gulf of Mexico. Its winds are expected to begin impacting the southeast on Wednesday, September 28 before making landfall at the northwest coast of Florida on Friday, September 30.” Click here for more information.
CSX: “CSX is implementing emergency preparations as Hurricane Ian approaches the Florida Gulf Coast, with landfall expected Wednesday morning between Tampa and Fort Myers. Precautions are being taken ensure employee safety and protect rail assets in advance of the storm.” Click here for more information.
Old Dominion Freight Line: Old Dominion continues to monitor the progress of Hurricane Ian towards Florida’s west coast. Please be advised that the hurricane has the potential to create service delays or interruptions. For real-time updates, visit OD's operational map.
XPO Logistics: “We are monitoring the storm’s path and will post updates as conditions change. Due to the likelihood of significant rainfall, high winds, flooding and power outages, shipment delays should be expected.
