Echo’s acquisition of Command Transportation is made official

Echo Global Logistics, a non-asset based freight brokerage company and a provider of technology-enabled transportation and supply chain management services, has officially completed its recently-announced acquisition of Command Transportation LLC, privately held truckload broker and non-asset based transportation provider.

Echo officials said Command will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Echo.

The purchase price was roughly $420 million and is subject to post-closing adjustments for working capital and cash.

When the acquisition was first announced in April, Echo said that this transaction will create a leading provider of technology-enabled transportation management solutions with enhanced scale in the TL market, adding that in 2014 the companies had a combined revenue of more than $1.7 billion.

The combined entity will have more than 1,680 sales representatives in 34 U.S.-based offices, coupled with expansive network of truckload carriers, which will offer greater capacity and a broader network to both transactional and managed transportation customers and a broader suite of services for existing Echo and Command clients.
“This is a great day for Echo and Command,” said Echo CEO Doug Waggoner in a statement. “As a combined company, we can provide our clients with an expanded truckload expertise and carrier network. This significant increase in truckload business—along with our robust technology, multimodal freight brokerage services and Managed Transportation solution—solidifies us as an industry leader and better positions us for long-term success.”
