Walmart and Swisslog Expand Partnership with New Texas Facility

The retail giant will implement Swisslog's automated solitions at new milk processing plant in Texas

Walmart and Swisslog announced a new partnership in which the retail giant will install a Swisslog automation solution in its new Texas milk processing facility in Robinson, Texas, which is slated to open in 2026. Swisslog, which is based in Switzerland, delivers data-driven and robotic solutions for warehouses and distribution centers.

This marks the third collaboration between the two companies, following successful implementations in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and another in Valdosta, Georgia that's scheduled to open in 2025.

The Texas facility will incorporate Swisslog's automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS), utilizing SynQ software and Vectura cranes to streamline operations and improve the supply chain's resilience and transparency. The new facility was built to meet the growing consumer demand for milk across several Southern states, including Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and parts of Arkansas and Mississippi.

“We are honored that Walmart continues to put their trust in our automation solutions and our people behind those solutions,” said Sean Wallingford, President and CEO of Swisslog Americas. “This has been a very collaborative relationship as our two teams work together to create value for Walmart and ensure our automation solutions and software enable the company and its farmers to bring fresh, transparently sourced dairy to market.”

The ASRS system at the Texas facility will feature KUKA palletizing and de-palletizing robots, a ProMove pallet conveyor system, and a conveyor system for small loads, all managed by Swisslog’s SynQ software. This software combines warehouse management and material flow control, enhancing efficiency and allowing real-time inventory management to ensure product freshness and quality.

Additionally, Swisslog will provide IT Managed Services to support the new facility, offering around-the-clock support and proactive maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize performance. This strategic support allows Walmart to allocate its internal resources more effectively while maintaining high operational standards.
