For instance, in a survey of supply chain professionals conducted for the 2022 MHI Annual Industry Report, 54% of respondents rated hiring and retaining qualified workers as extremely or very challenging, closely followed by customer demands for faster response times at 51% and rising customer demands on costs at 45%. This has left many supply chain stakeholders searching for innovative ways to resolve these issues, particularly by investing in new technologies. In fact, more than 60% of those surveyed for the MHI report expect automation to be critical to supply chain success over the next five years.
