Miami-based freight transportation and logistics services provider Ryder System Inc. said today it has inked a definitive agreement to acquire the outstanding equity of IFS Holdings LLC, also known as Impact Fulfillment Services (IFS), a provider of contract packaging, contract manufacturing, and warehousing services for shippers in the consumer packaged goods (CPG), retail, and healthcare sectors.

Ryder announces Chicago expansion, with new Aurora-based distribution center
The company has added a 400,000 square-foot Aurora, Ill.-based distribution center, which opened its doors in August. Ryder officials said that this new distribution center is part of a six-building campus comprised of 2.4 million square-feet, which Ryder said mainly serves consumer packaged goods (CPG) shippers, including: food and beverage, food ingredients, health and beauty, household products, and general retail merchandise.

Ryder announces addition of BrightDrop EVs to its fleet
The company will introduce 4,000 BrightDrop Zevo 600 and Zevo 400 electric vans to its lease and rental fleet through 2025, adding that the first 200 will be ordered in 2023. And it added that the Zevo 600 and Zevo 400 electric vans have a 250-mile range on a full charge, while supporting a payload of roughly 2,000-to-3,400 pounds.

Ryder System heralds new drop-and-hook trailer service
Company officials said that by leveraging capacity through Ryder’s peer-to-peer truck- and trailer-sharing platform, COOP by Ryder, its customers gain access to a fleet comprised of dry and refrigerated trailers, adding that COOP has more than 6,000 trailers listed throughout the country, with its inventory continuing to increase.

Ryder makes moves to expand freight brokerage business with new locations
Ryder officials said that adding these new locations are part of its strategy to grow its broader transportation service offerings, which include freight brokerage, transportation management, and dedicated transportation. Ryder now has freight brokerage offices in Nashville, Novi, Mich., and Forth Worth, Texas.

Ryder receives unsolicited indication of interest from activist investor HG Vora
Miami-based freight transportation and logistics services provider Ryder System Inc. confirmed it received an offer by an activist investor to acquire the company. Ryder said in a statement that it received an unsolicited indication of interest from New York-based HG Vora for $86.00 per share in cash
