We’re in the midst of an automation and digital technology boom. Without question, warehousing and transportation operations are reaping the benefits of boom. But supply chain packaging operations have been slower to leverage those technologies.

According to Alicemarie Geoffrion, vice president of packaging solutions for DHL Supply Chain Solutions, that may be changing. Like much of what’s happening in the supply chain today, it’s being driven by e-commerce. Organizations that have made significant investments to re-tool their warehouse operations to support e-commerce fulfillment are now turning their attention to packaging.
