Global manufacturer Jabil exceeded its 25% Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions reduction goal two years early. But that is just one of the accomplishments the firm has achieved in its sustainability journey.
All of its facilities have water conservation plans. There are efforts to utilize green energy, divert landfill waste, and help repopulate forests. Some of the efforts are part of the company’s stated goal to become carbon neutral by 2045; others, such as the planting of over 13,000 trees last year across Asia, are part of community service initiatives.
Linda Weber, the company’s senior global sustainability engagement manager, spoke with Talking Supply Chain host Brian Straight on some of progress the Fortune 200 company has made in its progress, which is detailed in its 2023 Sustainability Progress Report. The key, she said, is that Jabil did not undertake this effort by itself. It has engaged customers and stakeholders, something Weber says is key to succeeded.
