The Home Depot Expands Distribution Network for Pro Customers

Four new distribution centers part of larger strategy to serve their customer base more efficiently

The Home Depot is set to open four new distribution centers in Detroit, Los Angeles, San Antonio, and Toronto by the end of June. These locations will specialize in stocking large, bulky merchandise like lumber, insulation, and roofing shingles, tailored for pro customers working on larger, complex projects.

The company has already opened similar pro-focused hubs across the U.S. and expects to have 17 operating at full speed by the end of the year. These distribution centers allow pro customers to streamline project completion by ordering supplies directly to their job sites.

“Pros need a partner with the right product, depth of product, fulfillment capabilities, sales support, and management tools to help them get their jobs done,” said Chip Devine, senior vice president of outside sales for The Home Depot.

The new distribution centers are part of The Home Depot's push to strengthen its pro offerings nationwide. Direct delivery to job sites saves pro customers time and eases congestion for regular customers in local stores.

Additionally, The Home Depot is enhancing its pro services with localized product assortments, dedicated sales teams, digital tools, trade credit, and tiered pricing.
