GlobalTranz introduces new final mile service offering

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based GlobalTranz Enterprises LLC, a full-service 3PL focused on freight brokerage and technology, recently announced it has launched its Final Mile service.

Company officials said that this service offering addresses the complexities associated with the last leg of a shipment’s route to its destination, adding that its GlobalTranz TMS is equipped with a built-in final mile module that automatically pairs the LTL linehaul carrier with a properly equipped, dedicated final mile carrier.

This approach, the company said, eliminates costly accessorial charges, including those related to notification, lift gates, and residential, inside, and jobsite deliveries. And it added that leveraging dedicated final mile carriers also reduces damages, claims, and the occurrences of costly returns, while enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. This new final mile network covers the 48 contiguous U.S. states and is focused on serving both B2B and B2C shippers.

The GlobalTranz final mile network covers all 48 contiguous U.S. states and has the flexibility to meet the unique needs of both B2B and B2C shipper, with GlobalTranz facilitating a cross-loading process, giving shippers full visibility through the lifecycle of the shipment. It also includes a single consolidated bill of lading, invoice, and proof of delivery to reduce time and paperwork.

The impetus for the rollout of this offering stems from GlobalTranz’ January 2020 acquisition of Cerasis, which provided the company with technology, staff, and final mile expertise needed to move forward with this offering.

“As ecommerce continues to grow, the customer experience at the point of delivery has become even more important,” said Renee Krug, CEO of GlobalTranz, in a statement. “GlobalTranz’s Final Mile solution combines technology and expertise with carrier relationships to help shippers gain visibility, control costs, and drive customer satisfaction.”

David Commiskey,  Vice President, Customer Solutions, provided LM with an overview of the new Final Mile service offering.

LM: What are the main benefits of this deal for GlobalTranz' customers i.e. shippers?

Commiskey: The final mile and reverse logistics capabilities have proven to be important resources for our customers as they navigate a surge in ecommerce activity amid COVID-19. There are many challenges facing shippers in the final mile delivery process, including navigating urban delivery areas and providing skilled product assembly. By bolstering its final mile solution, GlobalTranz allows shippers to navigate these issues and get products to customers quickly and more cost-effectively.

Through utilizing an integrated final mile offering, shippers are assured that each leg of the final mile will be successfully executed, creating a positive experience for e-commerce customers that mitigate the risk of incurring extra charges due to accessorial charges. By pairing an LTL linehaul carrier with a dedicated, properly equipped final mile carrier, accessorial charges and failed deliveries due to improper equipment and scheduling are eliminated. GlobalTranz’s TMS provides the ability for carriers to be automatically paired with the shipment, removing the complexities of coordinating shipments manually and giving shippers real-time visibility. In addition, the GlobalTranz TMS combines multiple BOLs, PODs, and invoices into a single document, creating additional efficiencies for shippers.

LM: What does Cerasis bring to the table that GlobalTranz needed/was missing etc.?

Commiskey:  As consumers increasingly order larger, heavier items online, and with ecommerce spending up by 77 percent year-over-year, the integration of Cerasis has played a pivotal role in expanding GlobalTranz’s final mile, reverse logistics, and ecommerce platform capabilities:

  • Final Mile Offering-With the addition of Cerasis’ technology, GlobalTranz is able to seamlessly offer customers a single bill of lading, invoice, and proof of delivery for the service instead of itemizing each individual transfer of goods from one location or truck to another. Essentially, through our Final Mile offering, GlobalTranz is creating a customized delivery network that is commensurate with the shipper’s brand and desired customer experience;
  • Reverse Logistics-Cerasis developed an integrated reverse logistics capability to take the headaches out of order returns; and
  • E-commerce Platform Integration-Cerasis, and now the GlobalTranz TMS, is integrated with the major ecommerce platform providers, such as Magento and Shopify. This means that options for LTL pricing are displayed automatically and immediately to the consumer in their online shopping cart

LM: What are the biggest competitive advantages of this deal for GlobalTranz?

Commiskey: With e-commerce delivery rates rising, GlobalTranz continues to provide solutions for shippers that enable them to meet their customers’ rapidly evolving needs. GlobalTranz’s final mile offering allows shippers to rely on a single 3PL that automatically pairs LTL providers with dedicated final mile carriers. In addition, GlobalTranz can provide customized white glove delivery services such as in-home and in-store installation, while its reverse logistics solution eases the product return process. In combination with the platform’s ability to seamlessly integrate with a variety of ecommerce platforms, GlobalTranz is helping shippers navigate the complexities of ecommerce demands by providing the connectivity and visibility they need.
