In this episode, Commissioner Giner discusses the border treaties and the sharing of water resources between the U.S. and Mexico.

An abundance of water is necessary for sustainable growth in population, industry, and agriculture.  The cross-border treaties are helping to improve the environmental conditions of the U.S./Mexico border region to advance the well-being of residents in both nations. But there are also water politics involved regarding the Rio Grande and Colorado Rivers. Further concerns about global warming, droughts, and other weather events must also be considered. Agriculture takes nearly 80% of the water and when there is a shortage of water, cuts are made to agriculture first, becoming an emergency in supplying food to North America.
