EnerSys sponsors FIRST championship for high school students

Company donates batteries to support science, technology, engineering and math education.

EnerSys, a global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications, has been recognized as a Diamond Level Supplier to the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC).

EnerSys donated batteries for the FIRST teams’ Kits of Parts. The FRC season concludes at the FIRST Championship, April 22-25 in St. Louis, Mo.

In the FRC, high school students in grades 9-12 build 120-pound robots designed to complete a task specified by the contest. The St. Louis event is the culmination of six weeks of competition, with teams comprised of students, professional engineers and adult mentors. This year, more than 17,000 students will participate at the FIRST Championship. The international event showcases student teams from FIRST Robotics Competition for students in grades 9-12; FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) for grades 7-12; FIRST LEGO League (FLL) for grades 4-8; and Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr.FLL) for grades K-3.

“We have sponsored the FRC since 2012 and are pleased to continue our association with this inspiring event,” said Maria Orlando-Krick, marketing content and sponsorship manager at EnerSys. “As a company that regularly explores the intersection of science and technology, EnerSys understands the value of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education that this event provides to students.”
