Descartes Joins Forces with KSD

Descartes has acquired KSD Software Norway AS (“KSD”), a leading Scandinavia-based provider of electronic customs filing solutions for the European Union (“EU”). KSD provides its customers with customs declaration, security filing, transportation management and freight forwarding technology solutions.

Descartes’ strategy is focused on growing and operating the most complete and interoperable global Logistics Technology Platform.

Descartes’ Logistics Technology Platform uniquely combines the Global Logistics Network, a wide range of modular and interoperable logistics applications and the largest community of logistics-intensive companies in the world.

The acquisition advances Descartes’ strategic objective to strengthen its global presence and leadership position by:

• Expanding the geographic scope of Descartes’ network to include a wider array of EU countries for fiscal filing;
• Strengthening Descartes’ Customs and Regulatory Compliance application footprint to include a robust, multi-country EU customs compliance platform; and
• Growing Descartes’ global multi-modal logistics community by adding more than 1,300 customers, primarily based in Scandinavia.

Expanding Descartes’ Global Logistics Network
Descartes’ Global Logistics Network (GLN) is the foundation on which the applications and community are built. The GLN provides community members the flexibility to easily connect and collaborate with global trading partners. The KSD acquisition broadens the scope Descartes’ network to include additional countries for EU fiscal filing.  The combination also provides increased scale to Descartes’ existing security filing footprint.

Enhancing Descartes’ offering of logistics management applications
Descartes’ product strategy is focused on expanding its logistics application functional footprint to provide its customers with the most comprehensive logistics management solutions in the industry.  KSD has been developing its feature-rich, multi-country customs compliance platform for more than 20 years.  The acquisition will strengthen Descartes’ Customs and Regulatory Compliance platform with additional functionality, including additional country specific features.

Growing Descartes’ global multi-modal logistics community
Descartes’ logistics community is the largest multi-modal network of logistics intensive companies in the world, with over 146,000 parties using its cloud-based services in over 160 countries. It is Descartes’ mission to create the world’s most comprehensive networked logistics community. The acquisition will add more than 1,300 logistics-focused customers with the majority of customers having operations in Scandinavia.
