Session 3: Warehouse/DC Automation

2022 Warehouse/DC Operations Survey: Recalibrating operations and spend

Our research team puts context around the findings of our 17th-annual “Warehouse & DC Operations Survey” that‘s designed to give the market the most up-to-date snapshot of current trends in warehouse/DC management. The team reports that capital expenditure expectations for the coming year declined; however, signs still remain of sizable automation budgets and interest in warehouse technology.

In this session, the team summarizes how e-commerce is altering warehouse/DC design and operations; shares the profile of today”s DC network; discusses best practices being employed by warehouse/DC leaders; and takes a deep dive into how technology is being applied inside the nation’s top warehouse/DC facilities.

The bigger picture revolves around continued struggles with upstream supply chains, inventory management and space, as survey findings point to many respondents having warehouses that are near or past full capacity. Recalibrating operations—while applying more IT and less paper to help retain workforce—is in the mix for many.

Attendees will come away with a better understanding of:

  • How today’s DC network profile is changing
  • How technology is being applied to warehouse/DC operations
  • How automation is being optimized to retain workforce.
