Packaging: Reusable Packaging Association announces 2012 Executive Committee

The new committee includes experienced members of the reusable packaging industry, including three presidents of leading companies.

The Reusable Packaging Association (RPA) announced its 2012 Executive Committee members today. The new committee includes experienced members of the reusable packaging industry, including three presidents of leading companies. Formed in 1998, the RPA is the leading trade association dedicated to promoting the expansion and value of reusable packaging systems for greater supply chain efficiencies, increased environmental benefits and reduced costs.

The 2012 RPA Executive Committee will be led by Chairman Mike Hachtman, President and CEO, reLogistics Services, LLC. Robert Engle, President NA, Schoeller Arca Systems Inc., will serve as RPA Vice Chairman; and John Frey, President of Tosca Limited, will continue to serve as RPA Secretary/Treasurer. Drew Merrill, Vice President of Business Development & Strategic Planning, Container and Pooling Solutions, Inc., will be RPA Immediate Past Chairman (ex officio). Jerry Welcome will continue as RPA President and CEO (ex officio).

“Reusable packaging continues to grow and gain widespread acceptance within supply chains. Whether it is lawn tractors, fresh produce or other commodities, the advantages of reusable packaging are clear - lower supply chain costs and less impact on the environment,” said Mike Hachtman, RPA Chairman and President and CEO, reLogistics Services, LLC. “I am excited to lead the Reusable Packaging Association which has established itself as the association for reusable packaging. The RPA has grown to be the premier source of information, knowledge, guidance and best practices necessary to grow and support the industry, and help companies realize the benefits of reusable packaging.”

“The term ‘resuable’ has joined buzzwords such as the green movement, social responsibility, sustainability, recycling and the like,” said Robert Engle, RPA Vice Chairman, and President, Schoeller Arca Systems Inc. “But when you discuss the concept in detail with an end user, it is still somewhat a mysterious concept. An organization such as the RPA has the ability to educate end users by providing details around the various reusable options available. As the RPA grows in strength, I see it becoming the leading authority for comprehensive information and resources on reusable packaging, and a place where end users can locate suppliers as well as a wealth of valuable information.”
