Memphis-based global freight transportation and logistics services provider FedEx and Chicago-based FourKites, a provider of real-time tracking and visibility solutions across transportation modes and digital platforms announced that they have partnered up for a strategic alliance on a new supply chain visibility offering, which connects key data insights from each of their respective networks.

FedEx makes a strategic investment in FourKites, which FourKites will leverage to develop FourKites X to help transform global supply chains with volumes of data insights from both companies’ networks.

Recent developments in China related to the uptick in Omicron variant infections appear to be shaping up to have a significant downstream impact on United States-bound import patterns, at a time when the ongoing supply chain congestion issues appeared to be showing signs of improvement.

Given the fluidity, uncertainty, and unrest Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine situation has created, the subsequent logistics and supply chain-related impacts continue to evolve.

Koepke provided Berman with an overview of the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on North American supply chain and logistics operations, rates, capacity, and other topics.

FourKites officials said that with NIC-place in the fold, it is positioned to create the largest European-based multimodal carrier network, serving global shippers with what it called the most comprehensive end-to-end global supply chain visibility platform. And they also added that it will help to spur on the adoption of secure real-time visibility solutions specifically designed for carriers, while shortening the time to value for shippers with complex, multimodal carrier networks.

FourKites said its Dynamic Yard software offering enables shippers to proactively manage their facilities through real-time in-transit and in-yard freight data and analytics. And they added that through the connection of traditional, siloed yard management software with FourKites real-time supply chain data and predictive ETAs, shippers can cut down on demurrage and detention expenses, as well as optimize operations on a company-wide basis through their facilities.

Today’s supply chain design processes must capture both structural and organizational complexities that have emerged over the past two decades, with a focus on emphasizing value creation based on the ability to serve customers speedily and flexibly.
