2022 Supply Chain Benchmarking Report

Get the latest research and insights to help you better understand the key factors that shape this complexity, how your supply chain progresses against them, and how you can increase its performance.

Report Highlights - The top 6 takeaways from the 2022 benchmarking report:

  1. Labor Engagement, Safety & Efficiency - Hiring and retaining labor is among the top challenges for today’s supply chains. Only 1 in 3 supply chains say they have an adequate level of staff. At the same time, only 22% of respondents ranked as leaders in the category – the lowest across all six complexity factors.
  2. End Customer Experience - In today’s digital economy, fast isn’t fast enough. Of our respondents, 92% recognize that supply chain performance has a critical or major impact on customer satisfaction. The results also show attaining this is a challenge: fewer than a third rank as leaders.
  3. Digitization & Process Automation - Supply chains need to become smarter and more efficient to keep delivering in today’s dynamic markets. Respondents are well aware of this need: 84% say digitizing is a strategic or high priority, yet only 33% of leaders have introduced automated paperless processes.
  4. Facility Optimization - Highly productive facilities are the basis of successful supply chain operations. About a third of respondents lag behind, scoring as initiating or developing. And more than 40% are using legacy tools or manual approaches to plan improvements for their facilities, risking sub-optimal project outcomes.
  5. Sustainability - Sustainability is top of mind for supply chain professionals. Of the respondents, 89% see increasing sustainability as a strategic or high priority, but many are lagging when it comes to adopting sustainable packaging – a major opportunity to reduce supply chain waste.
  6. Agility & Resilience - The COVID-19 pandemic has clearly shown the importance of a flexible, resilient supply chain. Good visibility into the network and external collaboration can help mitigate disruptions but are not available to most supply chain professionals.
