Worldwide Express, GlobalTranz, and Unishippers band together to establish the WWEX Group

A trio of well-known logistics services providers, Dallas-based privately held freight brokerage and authorized UPS reseller Worldwide Express, Phoenix-based GlobalTranz, a full-service 3PL focused on freight brokerage and technology, GlobalTranz, and Dallas-based Unishippers, the second-largest privately held freight brokerage in the country, announced today they are collaborating on what they called a new “corporate identity,” entitled WWEX Group.

Following the announcement late last week that Phoenix-based GlobalTranz, a full-service 3PL focused on freight brokerage and technology, and Dallas-based Worldwide Express, a full-service non-asset-based 3PL focused on small package, truckload and less-than-truckload services (LTL) will join forces to become a merged entity, the top executive for GlobalTranz, CEO Bob Farrell provided with some additional detail on the merger.

The companies said that this initiative, which is expected to be made official during the third quarter of this year, was sponsored by a consortium under the leadership of CVC Capital Partners and leaf GlobalTranz investors Providence Equity Partners and PSG, with current Worldwide Express lead investor Ridgemont Equity Partners, as well as Worldwide Express and GlobalTranz management also retaining major stakes in the combined company.
