CMA CGM reaffirms commitment to acquiring CEVA Logistics

Marseille, France-based global container shipping company CMA CGM remains intent on acquiring CEVA Logistics, a global third-party logistics (3PL) services provider based in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands for $1.65 billion, according to various reports and filings.

CMA GGM said that the objective of this deal is to “grow its presence in the logistics sector, which is closely related to shipping.” And it added that the closing of this deal is subject to the completion of CEVA’s planned IPO on the SIX Swiss Exchange, which was announced on April 20, in addition to approval from regulatory authorities.

Revenue was up 6 percent compared to the first quarter at $1.978 million and down 4.2 percent annually, and adjusted EBITDA was up 40 percent compared to the first quarter at $60 million, and was down 25 percent annually. Quarterly EBITDA was lower annually, due to the company’s Freight Management group revenues being negatively affected by lower market rates.
CEVA expands relationship with Ford Motor Company

CEVA said it will provide inbound transportation logistics services for Ford’s Coldwater, Michigan-based Coldwater Origin Distribution Center (ODC), adding that its transportation operations will be based in various Michigan locations and provide pickup and delivery to the Coldwater ODC.

Fourth quarter revenue for CEVA–at $2.149 billion-dropped 9.4 percent annually, while adjusted EBITDA jumped up 57.1 percent to $77 million, with the company citing cost reduction actions taken last year contributing to ongoing annual improvements for the latter. For 2013, CEVA revenue fell 8.3 percent year-over-year to $8.517 billion, due to sluggish volumes from its Freight Management group.

CEVA said the new location, which has three times the capacity of its previous location there and based at the Parque Sur Industrial Park, is comprised of 4,400 square-meters, with capacity for 7,000 pallet positions, 10 meters of free height, and is in close proximity to the Panama Tocumen Airport as well as major highways.
