Tropical Storm Harvey Situation Report
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has warned that severe flooding is his main worry as the rains from Tropical Storm Harvey continue to lash the state.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says there was “great devastation” in areas of the state hit by Hurricane Harvey, but the greatest concern going forward is flooding.
Abbott joined CBSN to discuss his state's response to the storm, as well as his interactions with the White House (watch the video above).
The American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) also reports that the threat of serious flooding will continue over the next serval days.
Accumulations of 15 to 30 inches and isolated maximum amounts of 40 inches are possible.
Rainfall of this magnitude will cause catastrophic and life threatening flooding.

In response to Harvey, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) declared that an emergency exists that warrants issuance of a Regional Emergency Declaration in the States of Texas and Louisiana and an exemption from certain Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), including hours-of-service (HOS) regulations, to addresses possible emergency conditions creating a need for immediate transportation of supplies, equipment and persons into and from those States.
Information on waivers for motor carriers and drivers providing direct emergency relief to, from or within the areas covered by the declarations:
Texas and Louisiana have declared state emergencies due to Harvey. These declarations automatically waive select FMCSRs, including hours-of-service (HOS) regulations, for motor carriers hauling resources to aid in restoration efforts. The declarations exempt FCMSR in every state along the motor carrier’s route as long as the final destination is with the declared disaster areas in Texas or Louisiana.
