E-commerce Fulfillment

There’s no question but that e-commerce has upended warehouse and distribution center operations. In fact, for the last few years, we’ve been in the midst of an automation boom as DC operators look for more ways to handle all the piece picking that goes along with e-fulfillment. That’s led to an explosion of automated storage and retrieval systems as a core technology for goods-to-person picking.

Within this market, shuttle systems are more prominent than ever because of attributes like speed, scalability, ease of use and labor savings. The question is, given the different kinds of shuttles on the market today, such as captive shuttles and roaming shuttles, which is right for you.

Those are some of the topics MMH executiver editor Bob Trebilcock discusses with Jake Heldenberg, Vanderlande’s head of solution design, warehousing, for North America, Vanderlande. If your organization is exploring automation options to optimize your facilities, you won’t want to miss this episode.
