The average price per gallon of diesel gasoline headed up for the fourth week in a row, according to data issued this week by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
With a 0.003 cent increase, the average price per gallon came in a $3.079, ahead of last week’s $3.076, which saw a 2.8 cent increase over the $3.048 average for the week ending February 18.
This week’s average represents the fourth consecutive week that the national average eclipsed the $3 per gallon mark. Prior to that, the average had been below the $3 per gallon mark for five weeks, and before that stretch, the last time that the national average dipped below the $3 per gallon mark was the week of March 19, 2018, when it was at $2.972.
On an annual basis, the national average is up 10.3 cents.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil is currently trading at $57.28, which is ahead of the $57.02 average a week ago.
