Maersk Line, the world's largest ocean container shipping company, has contracted with GT Nexus to provide Maersk Line’s customers with advanced e-commerce capabilities.

This paper will explore the “build” versus “buy” dilemma and make the case that while there was a time when 3PLs had no choice but to build their own systems, those days are now gone.

When transportation and commodity costs rise like they did from 2006 through 2008, many companies examine their logistics spending to look for ways to save money. Should they switch carriers? Should they find alternative sources closer to home? Are carriers actually charging the agreed-upon rates?

Aberdeen benchmarked the supply chain software investment and roadmap strategies of over 130 Consumer Industry companies to identify the abilities of supply chain applications in managing risk and ability to change and adapt business processes over time.

With the meshing of these companies, GT Nexus and TradeCard said they expect to cumulatively manage more than $100 billion in direct supply chain trade.

Cloud supply chain technology services provider GT Nexus and Capgemini recently announced they inked a joint go-to market BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) initiative to enable what it described as “Supply Chain Orchestration.”
