Diesel back over $4 a gallon; Mideast tensions, other worries cited
Diesel prices are back over $4 a gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) weekly, on-highway survey of prices at 73,000 service stations and 9,500 truck stops around the country. Average diesel prices rose by 6.5 cents, increasing to $4.06 per gallon as of Monday, April 8. The Western states of Arizona, Nevada, Oregon and Washington saw the highest average price increase for the period, rising 11 cents to $4.26 per gallon.

With a 6.5-cent increase, the national average came in at $4.061 per gallon. This follows a 3.8-cent decline, to $3.996, for the week of April 1, and a slight 0.006-cent increase, to $4.034, for the week of March 25, and a 2.4-cent increase, to $4.028, for the week of March 18.

With a 3.8-cent decline, the national average, for the week of April 1, came in at $3.996 per gallon. This was preceded by a slight 0.006-cent increase, to $4.034, for the week of March 25, and a 2.4-cent increase, to $4.028, for the week of March 18.

And it also marks the largest weekly gain since the 22.2-cent gain, from $3.905 per gallon to $4.127 per gallon, from the week of July 24 to the week of July 31.
